The Lady and the Rock is a collection of pastel paintings inspired by the subdued palettes and crumbling walls of Alcatraz, as well as my son’s fascination with ladybugs (and all other insects). In this series based in imperfect realism, I explore the possibility of hope and light within the confines of the haunting, geometric images of this iconic prison.
